Ohm Sweet Home is a vegan, gluten-free bakery. Dawn, of Ohm Sweet Home, explains the differences in preparation between traditional and vegan baked goods. “So, obviously you have to take a step back and look at your recipe to figure out actually how you’re going to get it to bind and what is really the substitute for eggs. We’ve done a really great job in actually making our own “butter”, which actually serves like a regular dairy butter. So, the preparation is really the same. Prepare all your items before you start to bake, but it’s a little bit of a challenge to find what would stay together.” Essential Ingredients for the Vegan Baker: “I would say they should definitely have a flour that they are comfortable with, and again, I’m coming from a gluten-free standpoint. It’s a little bit easier to not be gluten-free, and just vegan. But from a vegan-baker standpoint, anything that you are comfortable with to replace your eggs, whether that’s flaxseed or chia, or another source of a binder.”
