New Math Teacher Calculates Success

By VIVIENNE SCHARF

Jericho is thrilled to introduce a new addition to our school’s math department, Ms. Lauren Frazer. With a passion for education that inspires all of her students, she brings a new perspective that shows just how positive a person can be.

Ms. Frazer is thrilled to be teaching at Jericho High School. She said, “I love it in the community. Everybody’s so nice. It’s super inclusive. I just love being here every day.”

Frazer’s journey to get to Jericho began when she was a little girl dreaming of one day being an elementary school teacher. As she grew up, so did her love for math. She followed this dream to SUNY Oneonta where she earned a degree in math education and another in adolescent education. She is currently working towards her master’s degree in educational technology.

Last year Ms. Frazer student taught an Algebra 1 class here at Jericho, and was appreciated by her students. Sophomore Emily A. said, “She was very caring and she always helped me with the assigned work. No matter if it was the end of the period or if it was the beginning of the period, she always helped.”

Another student, sophomore Havin O. said, “She’s very helpful and fun to work with.”

Ms. Frazer enjoys having her own class and creating fun and interactive activities and lessons, but she credits her mentors for their endless support. She said, “Both of my cooperating teachers here are so amazing and they really prepared me.”

Ms. Frazer is always willing to indiviually assist students.

Outside of school, Ms. Frazer enjoys being with family and friends, streaming movie marathons and supporting her home team, the Buffalo Bills.
