This year’s Jericho boys lacrosse team showed large improvements, especially among the younger players. With a team of 8 seniors, 10 juniors, and 4 sophomores, a big surprise came among the underclassmen as they showed massive skill and potential.
With a record of 10-6, the team enjoyed a good season but unfortunately missed a playoff opportunity. The team had some very big victories especially in the highly anticipated game against Division High School which was broadcast live by Varsity Media. The final score was a 17-6, a Jericho victory.
Jericho junior and co-captain Josh Rubin felt proud of the team’s work during the season. He said, ”My overall outlook on the season is pretty positive. Although I’m disappointed we missed the playoffs, I’m happy with our record. Last year we went 6-11 and had a down year, so winning 10 games this season was very exciting.”
Josh reached an important milestone this season when he was listed as one of Nassau County’s top ten goal scorers. He said, “I wasn’t expecting to be one of the top scorers in Nassau County this season at first. After accomplishing 100 points I feel like I succeeded in everything I tried to complete in my lacrosse career. Being at the top of the leaderboard is a crazy feeling just because of how difficult and competitive lacrosse is on Long Island. It’s a dream. “
