Jericho’s girls varsity soccer team showed signs of improvement and future potential with many of the younger students performing well. With a team of 10 seniors, 5 juniors, 4 sophomores, and 2 freshmen, the team will be rebuilding for the next couple of years.
Despite a tough season the girls still held strong and kept their heads high while supporting each other constantly. Even with the seniors leaving, the freshman coming in will help the team evolve and be better than before.
Senior and co-captain Jillian Baskind believes that the team kept a strong morale all season. She said, “I think that the future of the girls varsity soccer team will succeed in the seasons to come. They have always tried their hardest and they will continue to do that. I can’t wait see how they do next year with the incoming freshmen as part of the team.”
She added, “Even though we played very good teams, no one ever gave up and I’m very proud of the team.”
Senior and co-captain Allie Lefkowitz gave advice for the team’s future. She said, “I think since the team is losing eleven seniors, there will be a very new team. The incoming freshmen will have to bring 100% of their effort and they will be ready for an exciting season.”
Junior Shea Gang commented on the growth of the team. She said, “I thought we had a hard season, where we were placed in a difficult conference. We used this to grow as a team and play better together.”
