Ms. Eve Mangibin has been a guidance counselor for 23 years. Before working in Jericho, Ms. Mangibin was a guidance counselor in New York City for 17 years. She spent 6 years in the Jericho Middle School and transitioned to becoming a guidance counselor in the high school this year.

Ms. Mangibin received her bachelor’s degree from Stony Brook University, where she majored in psychology, and her master’s degree from Columbia Teachers College.

Ms. Mangibin chose to work in Jericho because she knew it was among the top school districts. When she noticed a job opening, she took a chance. She also wanted to work in Jericho because she understands the problems that students might face in this environment. She said, “I think there are a lot of kids in the school district who go through a lot of pressure.”

Ms. Mangibin was interested in moving to the high school because she is interested in helping students reach their potential as they graduate and lead their lives. Ms. Mangibin said, “I really want to take part in helping them with the next phase of their lives.”

Ms. Mangibin loves helping her students and is always willing to talk with them.

Students are overwhelmingly pleased with Ms. Mangibin. Sophomore Jake R. said, “Ms. Mangibin always listens and understands. I feel I am in a safe space with her.”

Curriculum Associate of School Counseling Mr. Sloan believes Ms. Mangibin is a great addition to the high school. Mr. Sloan said,  “Ms. Mangibin is an amazing person and is always willing to help students.”

When she’s not helping students, Ms. Mangibin loves to bike, snowboard, hike, play with her dog, and go to the beach.
