“Love Hard” is a romantic comedy starring Nina Dobrev and Jimmy O. Yang. The movie is about young journalist and hopeless romantic Natalie, who has been desperately trying to find love while writing about her disastrous dates on an online blog.
As Natalie begins yet another online dating adventure, many unpredictable events occur. She starts talking to Josh online and falls in love with him. She decides to surprise him for Christmas by flying from Los Angeles to his home in Lake Placid, New York. When she arrives, she discovers Josh to be someone else, and lies begin to pile on top of lies.
Many students such as freshman Kate S. enjoyed the film. “The drama in the movie is what kept me entertained and if there wasn’t any drama, I wouldn’t have watched the movie. I didn’t like the predictable ending,” she said.
Some students disliked the film. Freshman Sarah P. said, “I didn’t like how they were mentioning cheating and catfishing. The drama in the movie was weird and unnecessary.”
We believe this movie deserves four stars because there is a lot of unnecessary drama in the movie that could have been avoided. “Love Hard” is a great movie and the love story of Josh and Natalie helps us to understand that true love can be found in real honesty. Natalie teaches us that we should not pretend to be someone we are not. Nina Dobrev did an amazing job portraying Natalie’s character struggles and persona. Jimmy O. Yang also made the movie funny and increased its holiday spirit. Overall, this Christmas movie was amusing and entertaining.
