Ms. Naughton is a new math teacher at Jericho High School and Middle School. She joined the Jericho School District after serving as a leave replacement at Calhoun High School. She has had a great start to quite an atypical year, and is very excited to make new memories.
Ms. Naughton attended Molloy College to pursue her career as a math teacher. She enjoys problem-solving, and wanted to incorporate that into her desired subject matter which is why she chose to teach math. She enjoys teaching math because she is a very goal-oriented person.
Ms. Naughton teaches two different types of math: algebra and geometry. She loves using different approaches to help her students get the best possible math education. She finds it easier to teach math by integrating technology into her lesson plans because it helps her students interact more with each other and comprehend the material better.
Ms. Naughton uses a variety of computer applications to help put a twist on normal teaching strategies. This is not only fun for the students, but different programs also help students participate and engage more during class.
Ms. Naughton loves to see her students’ growth, not only in math but in life. She said, “I don’t view them as just my students. I see them as people who I want to help learn and grow in more than just math.”
She loves watching all people achieve their goals, but specifically her students. Ms. Naughton really puts effort into her teaching and tries the best that she can to help her students understand the material being taught. Junior Dylan S. said, “Ms. Naughton has helped me by taking the time to teach me math when I don’t understand it.”
Ms. Naughton has many different hobbies outside of being a math teacher. She has a passion for art, painting, and poetry. Other hobbies of hers include exercising and yoga. Ms. Naughton also loves the different views of nature. In her free time, she enjoys going on hikes, biking and going to the beach. Ms. Naughton is also very family-oriented and loves every minute spent with her close-knit family.
Ms. Naughton is truly dedicated to what she does, and wouldn’t want it any other way. She is so enthusiastic to be a part of the inclusive Jericho family.
