Ms. Greenberg has been working at Jericho High school for 3 years, but this is her first year as a full-time teacher. Previously, she was a substitute social studies teacher for Global History I. She became a social studies teacher at Jericho High School because she loves history, and she also loves teaching it to her students.
This year, Ms. Greenberg is teaching Global History I, Global History II, and Personal Law I and II. She also teaches Global History I to students who are learning English as a second language. She went to Pace University in Manhattan for her undergraduate degree in Communications and Mass Media with a minor in Arts. She obtained her master’s degree in History at Hofstra University.
When Ms. Greenberg obtained her job as a substitute teacher at Jericho, she wasn’t that nervous because she grew up in the area not too long ago. She said, “The only thing that changed when I attended high school is that nowadays, we rely more on technology.”
Ms. Greenberg’s favorite topic to teach in her Global History classes is the Enlightenment in Europe.
Ms. Greenberg feels fortunate to work in Jericho. “I am very lucky to work here. The students are very hard working. All of my colleagues are wonderful and are very supportive to me and each other,” she said.
When she is not teaching, she likes to attend concerts, visit museums, and watch her favorite sports team, the New York Islanders. She also is adamant that pineapple does not belong on pizza.
One piece of advice she has for high school students is, “Try not to stress about the little things. Think about the big picture.”
