2020 Rewind!

By LILY WACHTEL

As 2021 begins, we look back on the crazy year we all endured. Here are some of The JerEcho’s highlights from 2020!

We kicked off 2020 with the controversy of the Jericho School District no longer accepting summer school credits from the Windsor School. We also started the year celebrating our Mr. and Ms. 1,000, Brandon Weiss and Jade Stoler, for scoring 1000 points throughout their high school basketball career.

In February, we read about outstanding dancers, Luke Blair and Tobi Ajah, exclaiming their love and passion for the school dance team The Jayettes, and JHS’ annual dance production Choreo.

Unfortunately by March and April, life turned upside down. Due to the pandemic and subsequent lockdown, we read about new ways to celebrate birthdays, and about how baking can become a new hobby during quarantine!

As spring approached, we heard about how students were spending their free time on PAUSE, acquiring new hobbies and interests.

In June, JHS students stepped up creating ways to help others struggling in the community. Also, last year’s seniors learned how to adapt to a completely different second semester than they had expected.

To start off this new school year, we explored the alterations in the high school such as a revamped library, a brand new Nest program, and a remodeled cafeteria.

As the unusual times of 2020 came to a close, we learned about JHS’ brand new hires and about how all of the teachers have modified their practice, both physically and technologically during these unprecedented times.
