Jaffe’s JV Journey

By AARON MARASIA

Coach and teammates agree that junior Brandon Jaffe had a phenomenal season last spring as an attackman on the Jericho High School boys junior varsity lacrosse team.

Jaffe has been playing lacrosse since he was 8 years old when his father introduced it to him. He has played for both school and travel teams. Jaffe’s hard work has clearly paid off. Last spring he scored 35 goals and had 25 assists in only 8 games, not to mention being named captain of the team. He said, “I love being captain because I can lead the team and my teammates during games.”

Sophomore teammate Dylan S. appreciated the work that Jaffe put in both on and off the field. He said, “Brandon is a really talented lacrosse player and captain, and he also gets the team pumped before games.” Dylan recalled his favorite moment with Jaffe from last season. “Brandon fed me an assist while I was playing long stick middie because I usually play defense,” he said.

Jaffe regularly practices improving his shot, which he believes is the most important skill for being an attackman. He believes there is still more work to be done. “I need to continue to improve the speed of my shot to help elevate my game,” he said. Jaffe aspires to continue growing as a player, hopefully on the varsity team for the next 2 years.
