A very busy Jericho varsity fall sports season has concluded with many exciting wins along with some devastating losses.
Did you see the boys varsity soccer team with their mohawks? If you were wondering why they all had these haircuts, it was because the team was carrying on the tradition of getting mohawks for the playoffs. The team had one of their most successful seasons. Captain Alex C. said, “We were 10-0-3 in the conference.” Unfortunately our Jayhawks lost to Wantagh in the second playoff round.
Another team that had a great season is the girls varsity soccer team, with a record of 4 wins, 5 ties, and 6 losses. Captain Rebecca S. spoke very highly about their season. She said, “This season has truly been an unforgettable one. The laughs and memories are indescribable and I wouldn’t ask for a more positive support system.”
Although the girls varsity volleyball team hasn’t performed as well as they have in previous years, they still managed to have an enjoyable and a productive season. Junior athlete Daria D. said, “The season could’ve been better, but we keep learning from our mistakes.”
The cross country team had an amazing season as well. “The season was great. Everyone PR’d [met their personal record] and improved in every meet throughout the season,” said sophomore runner Larry D.
The varsity football team had a rough start to their season, but they were able to pull off a big win against Great Neck North with a score of 30-6.
Perhaps the highlight of the fall season was the Jericho boys varsity badminton team that constantly dominated. They finished the season undefeated and are now county champs.
Overall, it has been a great fall sports season, and hopefully we will have the same outcome in the winter.
