When asked about her proudest accomplishment, senior Jessica H. had some remarkable news to share. She said, “I’d say publishing a scientific journal because in general the process of experimenting took me 9 weeks and about 8 hours every weekday. The process was really intensive, and it’s gratifying for it all to come together and become published and acknowledged and shared with other researchers.”

In this new feature of our Humans of Jericho series, we explore what it is like to be a senior at Jericho High School. Here are some of this year’s extraordinary seniors.
Leaving Jericho High School will be hard for many students. Senior Cynthia C. said, “I’ve been at Jericho my whole life, so I’m leaving behind my life and starting a new one when I go to college. It’s a mixture of nervousness and excitement because I’ve never had an experience outside of Jericho. I’ve just been in here my whole life.”
When asked about what he’s leaving behind, senior Parker F. said, “I’ll be leaving behind the memories and relationships with my teachers who honestly were like parents and friends to me. I feel like a lot of people will remember me, I hope.”
Senior Rachel H. is very excited to go to college next year. “I’m excited to go to college and meet new friends, and explore who I am, what my passions are, and I’m excited to fully be able to be with people who have the same interests as me such as broadcasting. I love how I don’t know what’s going to happen next year.”
Senior Daniel B. has been accepted to Villanova University and Binghamton University. “Getting into college is my proudest accomplishment because, to be honest, I didn’t think I was ever getting into college, and the fact that I did gives me pride. I’m excited to see what I can do with all of my free time now that the stress of applying is gone.”
When asked about the best part of senior year, senior Anthony B. said, “I love the sense of community everyone has, for example when people get into colleges, everyone is so proud of each other, and that’s really nice to see.”
Senior Julia L. reaped the benefits of working hard in a difficult class. “My proudest accomplishment so far is not only completing AP Biology, but completing it with a good overall grade because I went into the class scared as ever and worried about not doing well. I ended up doing just fine thanks to the best teacher, Mrs.Ciasulli.”

Senior Tyler B. has big plans for after high school. He said, “I’m so excited to get into the real world, burst the bubble, and be independent and live life at its rawest form. I just can’t wait for that.”
When asked about the positives of senior year, senior Shinyi S. said, “It’s more relaxed now that we don’t have to worry about college apps. I think that junior year was probably the hardest year because we had a lot of pressure on us to do well and we were focused on the SATs and the ACT. But now, especially after all the applications are submitted, there’s a sort of calmness to it all. I feel like I’m enjoying every day here more than I have in previous years.”
When asked about his proudest accomplishment in high school, senior Scott K. had something more recent to share. “My team just advanced to nationals for the VEX Robotics Competition. We all worked really hard and had a lot of fun, and I think that it’s rewarding to see all of our hard work finally pay off.”
When asked about what she’s leaving behind at Jericho High School, Senior Chloe C. said, “I’ve been involved in student council since freshman year, and it’s a great honor and accomplishment for me to give back to the school as president.”
